The picture is a horse drawn land roller, donated by Melvin Dey, Port Hope.

The land roller was manufactured in Peterborough, Ontario. by the
Peter Hamilton Company (Peter Hamilton Manufacturing Company). It is 8 ft. wide and thought to be built circa 1900.
Before restoration no wooden parts were left and one cast spoked wheel was broken.
After welding the wheel and cutting and bolting the wood together, this item looks real good.
Thanks to all the members of the HAH Club that worked on this project that was completed over 4 to 5 evenings.
This is a good example of what can be found and restored, otherwise be lost forever. |
